MI2's recycling sustainability coordinator has been actively engaged in community events across Kentucky, leading educational sessions on metals recycling practices and the role recycling plays in the state's industrial ecosystem. The outreach reflects MI2's commitment to building awareness around recycling as a practical, economic, and environmental priority for the metals sector.

The community sessions build towards a larger milestone. MI2 is hosting a recycling meeting at Tri Arrows, bringing together stakeholders from across Kentucky to discuss recycling initiatives, policy considerations, and opportunities for expanded coordination within the state. The meeting is designed to move the conversation beyond awareness and into actionable strategy.

Metals recycling is an essential part of Kentucky's manufacturing supply chain. Scrap metal recovered and processed within the state reduces raw material costs, supports energy efficiency, and contributes to domestic supply resilience. For Kentucky's aluminum and steel producers, access to reliable recycled feedstock has direct implications for production capacity and competitiveness.

The educational outreach MI2's coordinator has been conducting addresses both industry professionals and community audiences, covering topics such as the recycling process for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, the economics of scrap markets, and how Kentucky's recycling infrastructure connects to broader manufacturing activity.

MI2 will share additional details as it continues to make progress in statewide recycling conversations, strategy and implementation. Member organizations with interest in Kentucky's recycling landscape are encouraged to follow upcoming communications. Reach out to MI2 directly if your organization would like to be part of the conversation or contribute to the agenda.
