2024 SCK LAUNCH Experience Recap

Last month, MI2 proudly participated in the 2024 SCK LAUNCH Experience in Bowling Green. This is one of the key events for the South Central Kentucky region in reaching the next generation of potential talent for Kentucky's metals industry.

This two-day career exploration event, organized by the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsored by Graves Gilbert Clinic and US Bank, brought together more than 3,400 students from 14 school districts and 27 schools across South Central Kentucky.

The SCK LAUNCH Experience is part of the broader SCK LAUNCH initiative, which stands for "South Central Kentucky Learning About Unique and New Careers Here." It provides students with valuable early exposure to potential career pathways, preparing them for high school and beyond.

SCK Launch is a partnership between the Bowling Green Area Chamber Foundation, the Bowling Green Independent School District, Warren County Public Schools, and a range of local businesses in South Central Kentucky.

During the event, MI2 engaged directly with students, introducing them to the exciting opportunities available in the metals industry. Through hands-on activities and conversations with interested students, MI2 staff highlighted the tech skills and diverse aptitudes needed for success in this vital Kentucky supply chain sector. The event is a powerful way to connect with the next generation of professionals.

MI2's Talent and Workforce initiatives want to inspire students at an early stage and guide them toward fulfilling careers in the metals industry.

MI2’s participation in the SCK LAUNCH Experience connects with students at one crucial moment in their journey--as they are pondering career pathways in high school--to ensure that the metals industry is on their radar for consideration, and that they understand the range of careers possible in Kentucky metals manufacturing.
