As the Metals Innovation Initiative grows, we are excited to continue to see our team expand as well. And we are especially excited to welcome a familiar face in a new role, as Chris Boggs joins the MI2 core team as our Project Lead for National/International Membership Engagement here at MI2.
Chris was at the table helping us build MI2 since before it officially existed. He was one of the initial industry leaders who established the Metals Leadership Council under MI2 and spearheaded various Talent & Workforce projects during our first 18 months. His efforts were vital in shaping workforce development strategies that we are now building on.
Chris played this founding Metals Leadership Council role while serving as Vice President, Corporate, at Kobe Aluminum Automotive Products (KAAP), where he worked from August 2011 until 2024 and had served as Vice-President for the last four years of that work. Kobe Aluminum Automotive Products is one of our founding platinum members.
In his new role with MI2, Chris’s work is crucial in connecting metals companies from beyond Kentucky's borders to join and support MI2's mission of pioneering new initiatives for the industry. His work ensures that the organization remains at the forefront of technological and strategic advancements in metals.
Chris brings to the role more than 25 years of experience. He began his career at Akebono Brake Corporation. While there, he developed a robust foundation in the operations side of the automotive industry. This early experience, coupled with his later roles, has cemented his reputation as a leader focused on continuous improvement and innovation. His commitment to fostering talent and driving workforce development has earned him recognition as a leader in the field.
Chris is also currently the Director of Human Resources at Fruit of The Loom, Inc., a position he took on in March 2024. Working from the Corporate Headquarters in Bowling Green, KY, he is dedicated to enhancing the company’s world-class culture, strengthening brand equity, and introducing innovative practices across their global manufacturing and distribution facilities. His passion for supporting employees worldwide is evident as he helps navigate the company toward greater success.
Chris's roots trace back to Knoxville, TN, and he is an alumnus of both the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University. His professional journey has been complemented by his personal life, having raised his family in Glasgow, KY. He now resides on a farm in Allen County.
We're excited to have Chris in this new role and continuing to work directly with the MI2 team!
