North American Stainless (NAS), the preeminent fully-integrated stainless steel producer in the United States, is set to embark on an impressive $244 million expansion project at its Ghent facility in Carroll County, Kentucky. This strategic expansion will result in a substantial increase of 200,000 tons annually. Furthermore, this endeavor will generate 70 new employment opportunities, bolstering NAS' already robust workforce of approximately 1,600 employees and 500 on-site service providers.

Cristobal Fuentes, CEO of NAS, expressed immense pride in spearheading America's stainless steel industry while underscoring the profound impact on national security and job creation. He expressed sincere gratitude towards Kentucky's federal, state, and local leaders, including Governor Andy Beshear and Senator Mitch McConnell, for their unwavering support in realizing this ambitious expansion.

To facilitate its growth trajectory, NAS will embark on several pivotal initiatives as part of its 13th major expansion since 1990. These encompass the construction of a cutting-edge cold rolling mill, roll grinders, an extensive upgrade of annealing and pickling lines and a state-of-the-art temper mill. These transformative advancements will fortify NAS' manufacturing capabilities, ensuring the delivery of top-tier stainless steel products, while simultaneously mitigating the national security risks associated with subsidized imports.

Governor Andy Beshear commended the project, lauding its transformative impact on Kentucky's metals industry. He expressed enthusiasm for NAS' unwavering commitment to investing in the state's workforce, recognizing the company's exceptional growth rate and its positive implications for creating opportunities for Kentuckians.

This expansion will augment NAS' already extensive 4.4 million-square-foot facility in Carroll County, empowering the company to offer an extensive array of stainless flat and long products with competitive delivery times.

NAS operates as a subsidiary of the Acerinox Group, a globally renowned manufacturer of stainless steel and high-performance alloys headquartered in Madrid, Spain. With an illustrious presence spanning five continents and a customer base extending to 81 countries, the Acerinox Group remains at the forefront of technological advancements and industry leadership.
