MI2 Launches Dual-Track Innovation Search to Spotlight Problems and Solutions in Kentucky Manufacturing

This isn’t your standard pitch competition. This is a call to action — for both problem-spotters and problem-solvers.
The 2025 MI2 Innovation Search is a dual-track competition, designed to bring industry challenges and breakthrough solutions into the same room. Literally. Both types of finalists will take the stage this fall at the Kentucky Industry Conference (KYIC), October 27–29.
You can now apply in two tracks:
Problem Statements — For manufacturers, industry leaders, and ecosystem players who are ready to share the operational or strategic challenges standing in their way.
Innovative Solutions — For startups, researchers, and tech providers who are bringing the next big idea to life. We’re talking real innovations in processes, technologies, or partnerships that are ready to be tested in the wild.
As InnoEngine's Amanda Havard, who’s leading the charge on this year’s Innovation Search, puts it:
“Innovation only delivers impact when it meets a real problem. This new format is built on that idea — pairing real industry-defined challenges with the innovators and solution builders who can help solve them.”
The goal? Connection with purpose. We’re making it easier than ever for problems to find their perfect solution — and vice versa. Finalists from both tracks will present live at KYIC, setting the stage for real conversations, potential pilots, and powerful partnerships.
And the Innovation Search doesn’t stop on stage. This year’s program is also laying the foundation for a third track launching in 2026: Impact Stories. These will spotlight the real-world outcomes that start right here — the pilot projects, the collaborations, the measurable wins.
“With this year’s program, we’re building the connective tissue that turns ideas into action — and action into results,” said MI2 COO Summer Dixon. “It’s all about impact: for our industry, our workforce, and our future.”
